The Government would naturally object 'to paying the bounty to those who were inot entitled to it, when told they were | doing so by so high an authority as the | member for King’s County. If such state- ments were reported to any great extent in ‘the Commons it would not be surprising if the bounty were withdrawn altogether.

I notice that both the Patrict and New Era have taken great pains to show that ‘Dr. McIntyre did not use the words attri- buted to him, and to prove their case publish in fall the speech made by him on that occasion. Evidently the Editors of those papers are too stupid to perceive that the publication of the speech shows clearly that you did not misquote the Doctor, and ‘fully subetantiates your charge against him, The portion of the Doctor's speech which his friends contend is not an attack upon ‘the men of this Island reads as follows:
