Further forced liquidation was again encountered a the opening of the London Stock Market. Al- though volume was small, prices were marked dowii all around and lobbers quoted very wide markets.

It is understood Chancellor Chamberlain will make a state- ment today on proposed new tax which it is hoped will relieve the situation.

International issues were a, little easier.

MORNING MARKET LETTER

The substantial setback in yes- terday's market represented prin- cipally the result of three short Periods of weakntss. The first was at the opening when most prices broke sharply on a. weekend ac- cumulation of selling orders.

Virtually no rallying power was shown between the opening and mid-day when a second selling wave set in. A very feeble rally cle- veloped In the fourth hour but to- ward the end of the so; Ion prices weakened again as the tape fell behind.

The closing prices were at or near the lows for the day. About the only encouraging indication was that the market lost less ground in the final hour than at mid-day. This may indicate some broadening of support that could lead to a trading rally soon and probably today.

Beyond that point the formation of an opinion is made difficult by the numerous uncertainties both
