On that went to Wight’s mill, near Centreville, with the mare and truack-wagon. He had driven out on the dam and turned the beast to give her a drink. As he was getting out of the wagon some- thing frightened the mare, and being very spirited, she sprang oat into the water. The truck-wagon sank, leaving the box floating ia the water, with Mr. Taylor in it. He prompt- ly got eut to catch the reins and try to save the mare, but he found that the wagon was dragging her down; and as he had no footing he again caught held of the box, but was un- able to get into it. As the mill was tn motion those inside did not hear Mr. Taylor's shouts, and it wasonly by accident that some one came out and saw the predicament he was in.
