l I HEAVY DERRICK BEING USED A gasoline derrick owned by J. P- Porter and Sons, Montreal. was unloaded last Friday at the Yacht Club Wharf and moved to Pooles Wharf where steel piles are being moved and made ready for ship- ment. Four or live weeks will be necessary to complete the job of cleaning and painting the piles. Commendable care to avoid pave- nient damage was taken by the men in moving the derrick from wharf tn wharf via Water Street. Along the pavement planks were laid as a roadway for the heavy derrick which passed, under its own power, to the scene of opera- tions. In this way no marks or dam- age was caused to the pavement.

R. C. N. V. R. (‘IIURCII PAR.- ADE-To their respective churches. a church parade of Protestant and Catholic naval platoons of the H. M. C. S. “Queen Charlotte" was held yesterday. Lt. W. G. Crowley was in charge of the parade. The Protestant party of two platoons was commanded by Sub-Lt. D. MacLennan. The Catholic party of two platoons was commanded by Sub-Lt. E. Aust. All R. C. N. V. B. officers of the H M.C.S. "Queen Charlotte" were on parade which was comprised of about 120 men. After the church services the part- ies marched as a unit to the ship.

RESERVE UNIT NEEDS MEN- The Army Service Corps, which in full strength comprises about 150 men is being reorganized under command of Capt. Pope Clark, Lt. Percy Mcinnis and Lt. J» F. Mc- Leod. This unit. recognized as o. . ry part of the 17th Reserve Army is in need of some 25 men to fill the ranks. Those wanting to join some part of the Reserve Army, will find in this snappy out- fit splendid training by efficient officers and a good group of men. Quarter Master Sgt. W. Higgins, merits commendation for the good Job he did in fitting the boys with uniforms. The camp period is in August with the Reserve Army. The first drill at the Armouries was very successful and the next will be held on Friday night,
