A lecture was given in the Kingsboro bali on the firat of March, by Rev. Mr. Simpson. The lecturer showed the dif- ferent stages of man from infancy until he stands at the brink of the grave.

The schocl of this section is progresting rapidly uoder the faithful management of its teacher, Angus McDovald, M. A., who deserves credit for his ability as ap instructor.

We regret to hear that ene of our resi- dents, Charles Young, intends leaving for Montreal in the early part of tbe spring to study the many diseases of “ man’s faith- ful friend” the horee. Mr. Young is to make a special study for the cure of balky horses,

It is with feelings of regret that we [record to-day the death of Patrick Dougherty, an old and highly respected residentef Emyvale, which took place at the residence of his son,Francis Dougherty. Deceased, who came of long-lived ancestors, his father, the late Owea Dougherty, having lived to be 101 years, was in the 93rd year of his age; and during the whole course of his earthly pilgrimage he scarcely knew what it was to be affected with sickness of any kind. Lecture at Murray Harbor North

On Thureday evening the 2od inet., the people of Murray Harbor North were favored with a lecture on “Energy and Work,” by Doctor Matheson, of Montague Bridge. (Quite a large number of persons were present and they epjoyed aa intellect- ual treat. The Doctor handled hie sub- j2ct well, and the lecture was replete with scientific and usefu! information, highly interesting to those present. The meeting closed with @ hearty vote of thanks to the Doctor.
