ieletype Consultation Viewed For Hospitals

ALBERTON — The possibil- ity of instant consultation facil- ities through an interlocking system of teletype machines in the various hospitals and cen- tral laboratory of the province was urged at a meeting of the advisory board of trustees of the Western Hospital in Alberton Wednesday evening.

Harvey Hutt. Alberton. and Albert Saunders. Bloomfield. have been acting as a commit- tee for the past month investi- gating this possibility with the hospitals involved and the tele- phone company. A full report is to be tabled at the next regular meeting.

It was reported that the work of the x-ray department been increased to a considerable degree with some 242 separate patients handled during the month of November. '

The proposed budget for the wear 1965 now seems to be in the area of $191,000 as compar. ed to the actual operating costs of last year which were $176,000.

A good deal of the increase is due to the introduction of the 40- hour week in April of 1965. it was stated.

The administrator pro team announced that in the first of January there would be a posi- tion available for a young man or woman with a grade 12 edu- cation who would train for the position of x:ray and lab assis- tant in the hospital.

The appointment of Dr Wil- bert Shea as chief of staff was ratified by the board.

.A communication was receiv- ed with regard to the financial drive on the extension of the Prince County Hospital. It was moved that the board whole- heartedly endorse the campaign in gratitude for past service the Prince County Hospital has ren- dered this community and in an. ticipation of continued co-oper- ation with the hospital. The board commended the campaign to the people in the area.

Y’s Mens Club at its weekly! meeting in the YMCA last night . lu-b president Glen Kennedy. accepted the award which is in the form of a plaque inscribed as follows: “To gratefully cord outstanding services volun- tarily rendered by the Y's Mons Club of Charlottetown to the sub fering and indigent abroad through the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada".

The plaque is signed by Bow- er Carty. national chairman of the Unitarian Service Commit- tee of Canada, and is dated 0t- tawa. Oct. 22. 1964.

The Charlottetown Y's Men have been active for several years in helping to collect. pack and crate articles of clothing, and in transporting same to shipping depots for transporta~ tion overseas for Unitarian re. lief.

‘Souris Area Cleans Up After Storm

SOURIS Telephone and electric power line crews in Eas- tern Kings were kept busy this week g e t t i n g service back to normal in the wake of the wind storm which swept the Island.

Hardest hit by the storm was the Island Telephone Company. There was no long distance com- munication from the Souris of- fice during the storm. and a sew local lines were out of or- er.

Operators had to use a hand generator to make local calls.
