Hiouschold Hints.

Cream Pie. —Four tablespooufuls of flour, tive tablespoonfuls of granulated sugar, a quart of milk, two eggs, a teaspoontul of lemon. Wetthe flour with cold milk, and then pour on milk hot before adding the rest

Loaf Cake.—Two pounds of flour, half a pound of sugar, one-fourth of a pound of butter, three eggs, a gill of sour inilk, hadi acup of sweet milk, half a teaspoontul of soda, nutmeg and cloves for spice.

Excellent B own Bread.—-Three cupfols of ludian meal, a cupful and a haf of flour, two-thirds of acup of molasses, two tea- spoonfuls of soda, four cupfals of boiling water, Steam five Lours.

Mrs. Belcher’s Feather Cake. — Tnree tablespoontuls of butter, a captul of suger, an egg, half a cupful of milk, two cuptfuls ol

tlour, half a teaspoonful of soda, a lea- spoontul of cream of tartar, nutmeg.

Almond Cake.—A cupful and a half of sugar, a cupful of butter, a cupful of milk, two eggs, two cupfuls of flour, a cuptul ot almonds, blanched and chopped; a tea- spoentul of cream of tartar, half a teaspoon- ful of soda.

Cocoanut Custard.— Beat up three eggs, and stir them into two quarts of milk, add three cups of well-cooked crushed wheat, one and « half cups of grated cocoanut, and one cup of sugar; mix intimately, and bake fifty minutes in a good oven. Serve warn or cold.

Cottage Pudding.—Three eggs, aca pfu aud a half of sugar, a cupful of sweet milk three teaspoonfuls of baking powder mixed with the flour. Flour enough to make it thick as pancake batter, Steam an hour, without removing the cover; if you remove

the cover it will fall. Serve with cold cream. a
