A man may be lrinkirg more than he ought, but without getting drank. His confessor will tell him he is doing wrong, and will urge him to cease. But he will not refuse him ab- solution, because he is not in mortalsio. If he were refused absolution and kept from the sacraments, having no help from religion, he would be almost sure to fall into drunkenness. If he is encouraged to receive the sacraments, the grace which they bring to him may pre- serve him from druukenness, and perhaps may eventuelly streng:hen him to renounce drinking altogether.
