To Extract a Splinter.

The easiest way to extract a splinter ucep in the flesh of the hand or foot is by means of steam. A rather wide mouthed bottle is filled two-thirds full of boiling water, and the injured spot is held close over the opening. The suction draws the tlesh down, and a little additional pressure is used to as- sist the exit of the intruder. In a few moments the steam extracts the splinter, and the inflammation rapidly subsides.
