The late Mr. Jenkins was born

at Murray River. P.E.I.. in 1874 anduhad been a citizen of Tren- ton for many years, where he was employed at the Trenton Steel Works and of later years and un- til his retirement at the Eastern Car Com'P8lIY- He suffered a severe .ieart at- tacktand only lived I few days after admittance to Aberdeen Hospital. Possessing a quiet and aleasing personality, he was es- eemed by all who irnew him.

Surviving are his widow: one laughter. Mrs, John Stewart. Jharlottetown: six sons. Joshua at home: Forrest. Daniel and my of Trenton: Malcolm. Ham- lIIt)I'I, 0nt.: Ephraim, Macbellan Brook: and one sister. Mrs; Min- nic MacDonald. Charlottetown.

Mrs. Jessie Jones. 35. Phyllss. 17 Elwood, 12. Herald. 11. Ernest. 9 Wanda 3, and June 1. were asleep upstairs when the fire broke out in the: two-storey from house about 6 a. m.

Gordon Jones. 40. was founcl by neighbors wandering. dazed and )l.II'l19d, outside the house.

The blaze levelled the house on the Jones homestead. 10 miles north of this village. At mid-day police had recovered four of the bodies and were sifting the ashes for the remaining three.

The toll raised the number of fire deaths in Canada since Nov. 1 to ltitl. In Ontario alone. 85 per- sons have lost their lives in fires.

In Toronto the Ontario fire mur- shal'g office said it has been called in to investigate the fire.

Mr. Jones, serving his seventh term as councillor for Mariners and Lake township. underwent surgery for three hours in hospital at Peterborough. Doctors said he has burns over 35 per cent of his body. -His condition was described 88 SETIOUS.
