B.—The St. Sohn Sui is informed that a Scotch woman, some little time since, while washing clothes in Muniac, found a piece of uartz rich in gold, for which she received $5 from a person who knew its value. A number of parties are again at work en this stream washing for gold, and are suc- ceeding in obtaining it, but in what quantities wecannotsay. T. W. Longstaff, Esq., we are informed, in is at the head of theeperation.

On Saturday lust the work of removing the hull of the Emigrant was commenced and since that time a diver and a number of men have been engaged at removing lumber etc., which is sunk in her hold. To-day a small blast of dynamite was set off under the hull for the purpode of loosening this lumber. It was re- ported that the main blast would be set off this morning and a large crowd assembled on Connolly's breastwork to witness the ex- plosion! It will probably take place to-mor-

THE DOMINION WIMBLEDON. Orrawa, Sept. 1.

This morning the competitors in the rifle watches were yreeted with the most favor- able weather they have yet had ; although the variations of light and shade somewhat interfered with the competitors.

it is expected that the ceremony of pre- senting the prizes will take place on Tues- day afternoon next in the Senate Chamber, admission being by ticket. All the prizes will then be presented. The Governor General's badges are to be awarded to the competitor making the highest score in the Governor Generals match, and each of the nine next highest competitors. The badges are somewhat similar to that of the ‘‘Queen’s Sixty” at Wimbledon. The ground-work is of blue and white; over it is a silver band with the words, ‘‘Governor General’s Prize.” In the centre, on a red groundwork, is the letter “ L.”

Owing to the large number of entries this year, which are double what they have ever been before, it is likely that in future the number of targets wil. be increased to twenty.

This p. m., Mr. Gzowski gave another reception.

About two o'clock the McDougall chal- lenge cup match was concluded, the cup being won by Private Anderson, of the Governor General’s Foot Guards, who, it might be remarked has been most success- ful so far.

At the 400 yards range Private Morrison of the Governor Genera!’s Foot Guards and Quarter Master Stenhouse, of Montreal, each made the highest possible scores, but at the 600 yards range they fell behind again.

Lord Hartington, in a speech this morn- ing declared that there was not the slightest sign of an impending dissolution of Parlia- ment. He made the usual party attack on the Government. Referring te the Cabul disaster, he said he would rather be forever excluded from office than shat this disaster should have ever occurred. He prophecied that there would be great trouble in Af- ghanistan.
