In the ease of A. M. S.teldeo, who has bees on trial for several days, charged wit! the warder of his brother, by shooting, the jury, to-niz! t, returned a verdict of not guilty. This affair was the outcome of a difficulty in the office of the National Re- publican (uewspaper), some mouths since, which the two Soteldos visited to demana sitisfacticn for alleged wrongs received st the hands of the editor. It was charged thut the shot which killed Soteldo came from the prisouer's pistol.

A fand has been started in Spain for the reli«f of sufferers by the cyclone in Vuelta Abajo. King Alfonso heads the subseription list with $10,000. The King’s sister, the Infaata Isabel, has given $5,000.

A fight has taken place at Cerillos, in Yca department, between Chilian sold-rs and a band of Monteneros, in which 25 of the latter are said to have been killed, Batrimore, Noy. 3. Fire at 3 o'clock this morning partially destroyed the Arlington Variety Theatre on High street. John Pearson, a young man. was burned to death, and Miss Georgie Supple, one of the attaches, was injured by jumping from the roof, one story high. Mada».e Busteed, the lessee, was also i:- jured by jumping from a window. James Kenny was badly burned, and several others were slightly injured. The fire originated on the stage, and the destruction of pro- perty was small. Napa, Cala., Nov. 3.

J. W. Simonton, for many years General Agent of the Associated Press at New York, died suddenly last evening, at his residence, near Napa, of heart disease.

Hostile Indians, numbering about fifty, raided a ranche near the town of Huisa- chexa, Mexico, last night, taking fifteen or twenty prisoners, capturing a lot of stock and escaped.

Revolutionary manifestos were posted in Paris and Marseilles last vight. They were printed on red paper. Two hundred of them were posted vear the Louvre, the palace of the Luxembourg and the Jardin des Plantes. They express the deepest hate for the bourgeoise and declare war to the death against them. Explosive ma- terials have been discovered in the coal! depot and telegraph office at St. Pourcain.

Dynamite in Galway.

After an investigation extending over ten days the men—Patrick Rogerson, Bryan Cormican and William Tansey-—who are charged with having aitempted to blow up the huuse of Mr. John Ross Mahon, J. P., with dynamite, have been committed for trial. bail being refused. The offence was committed on the night of the 25th of March, and the prisoners were arrested on information supplied by an informer named James Jones. The evidence of Jones was to the effect that he had been engaged in July, 1881, by ® man named Finerty to sivk a pump at Four Roads, county Ros- common. He left the work on the 21st of that month, and did not return till the 22! of March, 1882. In the meantime he wrote te Firerty esking him to get a supply of dynamite, and on his return found a quen tity of itin a box at Cassiny’s public house, where he lodged. On the 25th of March, when he went to Cassiny’s, the prisoner Cormican asked him to go out with him into the yard, Cormican then said they were gomg to blow up an old honse, ad- ding, *‘ We have some charges of dynewite ; will you give us more?” Jones said he would, and directly ofterward, accom oe by Naoghton and Rogerson, wen* to
