The United States Consul and Mrs. Vail returned last night from an ex- tended visit to their former home in Vermont. They came as far as Halifax by the steamer Halifax coming from there to Charlcttetown by the I. C. R. and the Princess.

Captain O. F. Taylor left for Hills- boro, N. B., this morning, where the sehr. Charlevoix is loading plaster for New York. Alexander Nicholson and Frank Moore went with him to join the vessel, and W. A. Bagnall, of Hazel Green was to go from Hunter River with them. Captain Taylor goes to New York by rail from Hillsboro where he takes charge ef the Charle- voix. We wish them all success.
