China Refuses an Indemnity.

The Times has a despatch from Foo Chow, dated July 31, which says ‘* China refuses to pay the indemnity demanded by France. France has extended the time till the fourth of August. War, to all appear- ances, is imminent. The China merchant fleet has been sold to an American firm for nearly $7,300,000.

Lonpon, Aug. 1. It is reported from Cardiff that a man had died of cholera on beard the French steamer Draville, from Marseilles, which is lving at anchor at Penarth Roads. The body was thrown overboard. Another on board the ship is ill. Cholera Slowly Dying Out. Paris, Aug. 2. Cholera is slowly dying out at Marseilles and Toulon, but has made its appearance in several new places. It is reported there are seventeen cases at Pancaleri, Italy.
