Critics call him cruel and dic- tatorial, but John Vorster—as he prefers to be called—believes in toughness when it comes to dealing with the threat of com- munism.

UC Approves Union With EUB Church

- WATERLOO, Ont. (€P)—The ,General Council of the. United Church of Canada voted unani- mously to aceept the Canada Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church into union.

The vote was taken after United Church Secretary. Dr. FE. E.Long and Dr. E. E. Hall- man, superintendant of the EUB

» Canada Conference, outlined the plan of union to the 400 United Church commissioners.

A standing vote was taken and ‘there was no_ opposition. Under the plan of union the EUB Canada Conference, which has some 10,000 followers, will be accepted into the United Church.

There -will--be--no -changes..in the present structure: of the United Church.

Some 3.600 followers of the EUB in Western: Canada, which is known as the Western Con- ference, will not take part in the union.
