TERE CATACOMBS OF KOME, There was a large and appreciative audi- ence in St. Patrick’s Hall Jast evening to hear Rev. Dr. Campbel!, of Halifax,lecture on “The Catacombs of Kome.” The lec- ture was most interesting and instructive, and was listened to with the closest atten- tion throughout its delivery which oc- cupied almost two hours. The learned lecturer dissipated some of the current opiniens regarding the ecataccmb:, ard showed that instead of being sand pits left by the Romans, they were in reality exca- vations made by the early Christians in which they might bury their dead. He also made reference to the sepulchre! in- scriptions, frescoing, etc., and showed the part which they played in elucidating early Christian history. Atthe conclusion of the lecture, a hearty vote of thanks was tendered the learned lecturer. The vote was moved by Prof. Caven and seconded by Rev. P. Curran. Mr. James Mclsaac, president of the C. M. B. A., presided.

The Minister of Marine and Fisheries will meet the lobster packers, fishermen and others interested in the lobster busi- nese, ata public meeting in the Market Hall, Charlottetown, on Wednesday, the 4th day of November next, at the hour of eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of discussing the question of the close season for lobsters in Prince Edward Island and other matters in connection with the lobster industry. Return tickets at one first-class fare will be issued at all s ations on the Prince Edward Island Railway west of Summerside for Tuesday afternoon, train good to return next day, and at etations east of Summerside for trains on Wednesday morning, good to return the same day. Similar return tickets at one first-class fare will be issued atall stations eastof Charlottetown on Wednesday morning, good to return the same afternoon. A special train will run from Summerside to Tignish on Wednes- day evening, leaving Summerside on the arrival from Charlottetown of the after- noon train.
