He knows that few things are worth doing unless they are well done. so he had packed a lot. of sand into that passage behind him. You see he knew that Sha- dow might discover where the riuorivay had been and might try to dig it open. So he hoped that ir. this case the door of sand T-Ollld be so thick that Shadow would be discouraged and give up. Shadow had not found that door. He may have guessed what had happened but he was in a

hurry and had run right past wit.hotit. suspecting wlierc that door was. He had gone hack and

It. was a good thing for Striped Crlllpllllillk that Shadow had loss his temper. Had he not done so. he might. have been in less of a lwrizv and been more careful in looking for that closed door.

so now after running back and firth along that hallway and looking into two or three store rooms which opened off it. Shad- rw snarled angrily and left. "I'll come back here again later,': thought he as he climbed tip on the old stone wall and tried to de- cide where to go next. He would hunt. someone who didn't know liow to'close it door.
