This year the exhibition is on Thursday, September 24, and

. Friday, September 25th at the Provincial Exhibition Grounds

and it again will be held in con- J[unction with the Rural Youth Fair. As in past years, there are

classes for Vegetables,- Fruit,

Seed and Table potatoes, Field

Crop Seeds, Field Roots, Hay and Silage.

| This year a change has been made in the prize-list. Fer the i first time vegetables are divided into two elasses—one for market gardeners, and one for home gardens.

| The entries at last year's ex- jhibition were down slightly, but jthe quality was up. It is hoped jthat this year’s Harvest Exhibi- tion will be bigger and better than ever.

| The prize lists are now avail- | able and may be obtained by writ- jing to the P.E.I. Department of | Agriculture, Box 2000, Char- i lottetown.

|VIBRIOSIS IN CATTLE

| When Vitziosis, a venereal dis- jease in cattle, infects a herd, the | breeding programme may be set |back six months or more, accord- ing to veterinary authorities. Re- peat breeding, with many infect- ed females returning to heat twenty-seven or more days after service, is a common sign of the disease in cows.

The purchase of adult cows or bulls is a potential hazard in re- jgard to the possible introduction \of Vibriosis into a herd, warns lthe Canadian Veterinary Medi- ‘eal Association. Sexually mature ‘animals appear to develop resis- 'tance to infection by this disease causing organism.

Mature animals which are in- troduced from outside herds should not be allowed to mate naturally in the herd unless a Veterinarian has examined them for venerial infection. If ‘semen is is used from carrier bulls or those of unknown fibrio status, it should be treated with anti- biotics under‘ veterinary supervis- ion, the Association said.
