SLIGHTLY INJURED - Mr. iiichsel Foley. cardigan. suffered only minor injuries when the iugon in iviiicii lie was driving trashed into the bridge at Car- digan. The wagon was broken in um. and Mr. Foley was thrown clear. The horse continued over the bridge with the front part of the wagon. and before it was uught had completed the wreck- ire of the vehicle. He was caught near Acorns garago by Mr. Russell Rice. Mr. Foley. who suffered min- or injuries, was taken to his home. where his condition is described as satisfactory.

Miss MacDonald played the part of an adopted 4 ” . The story revolved around her marriage to Royal Manton and the return of her father on the day of her en- gagement. Her father. whom she had never seen, was falsely con- victed of -e. crime and committed to jail. He broke jail to find his daughter and ended up by winning his ireedom.

Mrs. L. G. Ramsay as Miss Mac- Donald's foster mother acted in. s splendid manner although handl- capped by a severe cold. Mr. Wet- niore stated that she acted in the manner which the author imagin- ed she should a set, I-lodescribed her thinking on the stage as ex- celleht.

Mr. Bernard Macnellsn played the part. of "Judge Barry". Miss MacDonald's foster father and as Mr. Wetmorc stated brought more to the role of a judge than the author. You displayed added warmth. charm. love affection and homey atmosphere all through the play." he was told by the ad- judicator. .

The regular monthly meeting of the Ladiesi Auxiliary of tho Cana- dian Leglon B.E.S.L.. Mrs. Harold Harkness and the treasurer'a re- port given by Mrs. Ivan Nicholson. The report on cigarettes sent overseas to the troops was read by the secretary. in the absence of the convencr, Mrs. John Wat- son. All service men. both in Eu- rope and Korea, whose names have been sent in have been sent cigarettes.

A discussion on raising funds for the rink fund was opened by the president: and it was decided to hold a rummage sale in the near future. the time and place to be announced in the local papers. All proceeds from the sale will be turned over to Mayor Wedge for this worthwhile cause. other donations will also 03 given at a later date.

Talent tron: seven districts. in- cluding North 'n'yon. Tryon. corp- sud. Kelly's Oran, Victoria. Hasn- pton. and Double. last evening staged a most cnioyablc concert in crspeud hall where a complete- ly different concert will be staged tonight by individuals and groups from those same areas. ' Solos. highland dancing. old time music. one-set plays, read- igs.. choral singing. step dancing. and other entertainment make up the program presented in this joint community effort from which the entire proceeds will be donat- ed to the inter-community public library at Gr-apsud. which serves the seven districts and other sur- rounding areas. ,

This is the third successive year that the Women's Institutes oi these seven areas have worked to- gether to stage a. concert from which the pr were donated to their library.

Through the initiative of indi- viduals and organizations from these great, and with assistance and co-operation from the Provin- cial Library Division oi the Gov- ernment. it new attractive library was built in 1940 on which only a small debt now remains.

Plans have ben made to land- scape the library . ounda this year. the land having been donat- ed by the Crapaud Creamery Com- pay whose location adjoins that oi the new library building.

The administration of the lib- rary is under a committee compos- ed of representatives oi the sur- rounding districts. and the librar- ian is Mrs. Maurice Cudmore.

In Crspaud a public library was first organised about 17 years ago and for most oi that time, until the new building was constucted was located on the second iloor of a large general store operated by Mr. B C. Wood. who generously donated the room without rental cost oi any kind. .5
