The heaviest carcass was that brought into market by Mr. Charles Hardy, of Little York, which tipped the scales at 606 pounds. It was purchased by Mr. Wm. Richards at five cents per pound. D. McMillan, of Brackley Point Road, also had some heavy porkers, two of which weighed 885 pounds and were purchased by Mr J. P. To get a large market therefore, without which it would have no inducements to go on, would be the work of many years. Sir William Harcourt will speak for the Premier, and will make the announcement which Mr. Gladstone had hoped up to the last moment that he would recover in time to make personally.

Harcourt, at the session of the House of Commons this evening, announced that Gladstone would state his Irish policy to the House on April 8.
