The attention of Commercial Travellers is called to the following sections Of an Act yassed by the Legisiative Assembly of Prince [oa w ard Isiand, Session 1594, intituled “An Act to Impose a Dirceet ij ax on Certain Classes - ‘Traders ”:—

. “From and after the passing of this Act on ry casual trader not permanently residirg

in tuis s’revinece doing business within this Province, commonly known as “ Commercial Travellers,” and every person not pe rinanent-

ly residing in this Provinee, and who sells either for himself or any other person any goods, wares or merchandize in this Provinee, or solicits or canvasses tor orders either for himsetfor any other person for the sale, ex- change or purchase of any goods, wares or merchandize within this Province, either by the production of samp_es, photographs, cate logues, printed or written matter, or simply by word of mouth without the production of samples, photographs, catalogues, printed or written matter, shall, before he or she enters upon the business of so selling any @ wares or merchandize, or soliciting or can- vassing for such orders, pay tothe Provincial Treasurer of this Provinee an annua) lecense tee or direct tax of fifteen dollars.” ‘Upon payment of the said leense fee rai rect tax, the said Provincial Troasurer shallgrant a license authorizing the person therein named torell goods, wares and mer chand:ze in this Province, and to solicit and canvass for orders for the sale, exchange or purchase of goods, wares and merchandize within this Provinee. Such license shall be granted and remain tn foree for the space of one year following the date upon which the said license shall be granted and no longer.” 2“ Any such Commercial Traveiler or son not permanently residing in this Pro vinee as aforesaid, who, after the passing of

this Act. shall sell any goods, wares or mer clhandize, er solicit or eanvass for orders for the seve exchang: or yurchase of any goods,

This Act 1s now in force.
