Annexation.

There is talk of the annexation of the Sandwich Islands to the United Siates. [t is probably premature, bui when it does come to annexing to some great power, the United States will have the first chance. The United States has already anaexed the commerce of the islands as it is now proposed we should annex that of Jamacia. It has done so at the expense of thousands of dollars annualy from sugar duties which go into the pocket of an enterprising sugar boiler who was naturally solictious for the reciprocity treaty. The Sand- wich Islanders also owe to the Ameri- cans the priceless boon of a Court with gorgeous ceremonials and uniforms, in- cluding a vast golden crown. It is true that at the coronation His Majesty crowned himself in a somewhat absurd manner, by taking up the great diadem by the top knob of itand lowering it gently upon his royal head, but the American Grand Chamberlain-in-wait- ing, the Lord of His Majesty’s buck- hounds—a native of Massachusetts— was notto blame for this inelegant method. The versatility, the stern sons ef the Puritans displayed in arranging gorgeous State ceremonials, with the aid of a court guide, was astonishing, and quiet sufficient to Win the undying gratitude of the Islanders,

A Isrge number have been in contant use for eight years, and the repairs have been very trifling, in many instances none have been required, This valuable experience should be sufficient evidence of their durability, which is accounted for in the following :—It has, instead of a Lined Fire Box, two heavy Currugated Cylinders, which obviate the expense connected with all Square Cooking Stoves of being compelled to renew Linings and Grates, at least once or twice every year, The heat being radia‘ed from the Cylin- ders io the floor, where most needed, overcomes a _ serious objection to all kinds of ordinary Coal Cooking S'oves. The Cylinders are situated directly under the cover holes, and a fire may be made in one or both, thus adapting it for use either ju winter or summer, wit! «qual satistaction, besides effecting a great saving to fuel. I have also attached the PATENT TELESCOPLS OVEN to all my Elevated Oven Wood Stoves, such as the Waterloo, Niagara, Star, &c , causing the thousands using them to exclaim—My Stoves are worth TEN DOLLARS MORE than the same kind made by other foundries, The trade and retail parchasers will please bearin mind the fact that although a great advantage 1s claimed for my own Oven above all others, they cost no more, aud being the sole manufacturer and patentee, no other f.undry can supply. N and after Tuesday, May 5th, the new steamer ‘‘Heather Belle,” Hugh Me- Lean, master, will run as follows :—

Every Tuesday morning, at 4 o'clock, will leave Charlottetown for Orwell Brush Wharf, Jeaving Orwell Brush Wharf at 7 a. m. for Charlottetown, calling at China Point and Halliday’s Wharves ; leaving Charlottetown at 3p. m. for Halliday’s, China Point and Brush Wharves, where ehe will remain over night.

Wednesday will leave Brush Wharf for Char- lottetown at 7 a. m., calling at China Point and Halliday’s Wharves ; leaving Charlottetown at 3 p. m. to return, re- maining at Brush Wharf over night.
