Sacred Concert at St Peter's.

Tue choir of St. Dunstan’s Cathedral, assisted by several ladies belonging to Si. Peter's Bay choir, gave a Concert in th Catholic Church at that place on Friday jevening, the 19th inst. About twenty-five ladies and gentlemen came from Charlotte- town by the afternoon train, which arrived jat the Bay at 6.10 p.m. Oa arrival they were uiet by Rev. Mr’ Gillis and a number lof his parish:oners with horses and sleighs, | by which the visitors were conveyed to th: Clergy House, where a hearty welcom: awaited them. | By 8 «clock the large Parish Church at St. Peter’s was comtortably filled with an expectant audience; and shortly after. _watds Mr. Mclsaao, editur of the Char- | Proceedings with a few remarks,

The musical programme was a great treat to all who had the pleasure of listening t: it. The chorus singing was excellent, th: voices blended well together, and the organ accompaniment of Mr. Baachard was ren dered im his usual masterly manner. Wher: all the singers did so well it would be ua just tv particularize any without mention ing all, and the pr-gramime shows who took (he principal parts. We were greatly ‘pleased to notice that Mrs. Frser, one of the choir at St. Peter’s Bay, was well abl. to compete with any of the vocalists fr: m the city. The pregramme was as follows :

Marriage Bellis.

A very enjoyable event took plage on Tuesday evening at the residence of Aifred Schurman, Esq , of Bedeque. Mr Schur- man’s daughter, M. Alfreda, was united in marriage to Mr. Neil Cameron, of Albany The yeung couple were attended by Miss Alice S., sister of the bride, and Muss Flora Ano, sister of the groom, and Mr. Charles Schurman and Mr. John William Csmeron, brothers ef the bride and groom. After the ceremony, which was perfurm-d by the Rev. Joseph A. Cahill, the party, with a namber of friends, sat down to a most inviting repast. The presents were handsome. We sympathize with Mr. and Mrs Schurman in their loss of a dutiful daughter, but congratulate Mr. Cameron up?n securing for a life partner such an estimable yuung lady, and wish Mr. and Mrs. Cameron the fullest measure of hap- piness and prosperity.

Meeting at Narrows Creek.

ACCORDING to announcement a large meeting of the inhabitants of Grand River was held in the Narrows Creek School- house, on the Lich inst. Michsel D. Me- Oormack, Esq , was appointed Chairman and the undersigned Secretary. It was called with the intention of having some action taken by the Federal Govern- ment to protect the harbor at Grand River. The following resolution was moved by Michsel D. McD snaid, Esq , and seconded by Roderick McLelian, Esq , and on being put to the meeting was carried unani mously : Whereas, The beach of Morrison's Point, Lot 55, King’s County, is in imminent danger of being carried away by storms, particularly those from the east and south east; ad Whereas, The washing away of said beach would entirely destroy the nav gation on Grand River to the serious injury of the farmers in that great extentof country who exclusively depend on aii river asan ouclet for their rgriculture products. Therefore Resolved, That it ie the desire of this meeting that the representatives of this County in the House of Commons lay this important matter before the Department of Public Works at Ottawa, in order that such action may be taken by the Federal Govein- ment as wil! render secure to navigation the harbor at Grand River Cyrus Shaw, M-P.P., James E Mc- Donald, M.P.P., John G. Scrimgeour, M.L.C., Mchael D. McDonald, Michxel D. McCormack, Roderick McLellan, David Christan, Msqs , supported the resolution with good practical speectes. Sin, —Wheu the honorable leader of the government was elected to represent the south side of the Hillsborough, he was elected to look after the interests of the people. We would like to aek why he is not looking after the bushing of the ice. We have had good ice for ths past ten days and still there are no signs of it being bushed to guide the traveling public. In the snow storm of last Saturday week there was a man with horse and sleigh Jost, and was wandering about for two hours, having lost sight of the track. If that man in his wanderings had got inte a epring hole and been drowned the government would cer- tainly be responsible for that man’s life, Good judges have pronounced tho ice safe, and the number of horses and loads— some of them over a ton in weight—com ng and going continually prove it to be se. Such carelessness on the part of the government cannot be overlooked, but still we cannot expect much better from Grit rule.
