Some Trovur.—A resideut of North Lake went fishing the other day and caught near the wouth of the lake three trout, two of whick weighed three pounds each, and the third two and a half pounds. They proved to be of the finest quality, apparently only having come in recently from the sea.

A Prosperous Scuoot.-—Colville gram- mar shoo! house has lately been made about one third larger than it was origir+ uly. There are now three teachers em ployed in it, Miss Leslie, of Souris West, having becun teaching in the new apart- ment on the 4th inst. This is one of the most prosperous schools in the county.

Riss Broxen.—We regret to hear that Mr. John Collins, of North River, acci- dentally fell through the hatehway into the cellar of Dodd & Rogers upper store (next dcor to John McLeod & Co's) yester- day and had two of his ribs broken: The accident occurred as Mr. Collins was turn- ing about to leave the store, The eleva- torwas up at the third floor at the time,jand Mr. Collina did not notice the open hatch- wey. Hisinjuries were attended to by Dr. Kelly.

Mr. Rush was working om top of an oil barrel tightening a very large bolt with a hesvy monkey-wrench, which slip- ped from the boit and Mr. Rush was thrown viclently beckward several feet, falling across some heavy scantling, but fortunately escap- ing without any sericas injury to himeelf or the sexntling. The sum cf $350 which was on deposit in the Merchants Bank of Halifax was with- drawn with accrued interest during the past year. Fourteen interments were made during the year and the entire number of burials to date is eight hundred and twenty- three.
A marked improvement was visible last season in the caretaking of the plots of subscribers, as well asin the general ap- pearance of the cemeteiy. The green lawns, neatly trimmed hedges, and well-kept flower garden in front of the keeper's cottege, all attested to the taste and care shown in the management of the cemetery, as well as to the skill and atten- tion of the keeper in the discharge of his duties. The attention of all interested is specially directed to the fact that the keeper has established a flower garden in connec- tion with the cemetery, where flowers can hereafter be had from him, at moderate prices, throughout the season, and the directors would respectfully solicit for him the patronage and encouragement of plot- holders in this praiseworthy enterprise.
The work of tree planting which began the previous year, was continued last season and upwards of ninety ornamental trees now adorn and beautify the walks and lawns of the cemetery.
A large portion of the main roadways has been covered with a good coating of ashes, and arrangements are made to con- tinue this important work during the com- ing season.
he company has now $1,650 invested at six per cent., from which it is expected that $99 will hereatter be derived an interest. Apart from this fund, the Directors have no means at their disposal excepting tre fees de- rived from interments, which are very emall, the proceeds of salee of plots which are casual and uncertain, and arrearson former sales, from which almost all that is collectable has now been realized. A comsiderable deficit between income and necessary expenses wil! herealter annually arise, which must be met by voluntary subscriptions if the cemetery is to be sustained. hile a large number of plot-holders have generously contributed towards its support during several years past, it is to be regretied that some of those who are best able to do so have hitherto declined to render us avy aid, while they derive the benefit of the contributions of others. This is notably the casein one instance where a fund wes bequeathed by a lady, who wasa plot-holder, the interest of which is directed under her will to be applied towards keeping her plot in order.
The Directors desire to acknowledge the denation by the Rev. Ralph Brecken, D. D., of five plots purchased by his father, the late Ralph Brecken, Esq, for $150, and which he has most generously reconveyed to the Com- pany, free of charge.

Mecting at Five Houses.
A large and enthusiastic meeting, called by the residents of the district, was held in Five Houses Scho slhouse, on the 6th inst. It was attended by the representatives of the district in the House of Assembly. Also, Messrs. Kickham and Scrimgeour in the Legislative Council. Afver appointing Mr. Geo, Burge chairman snd the under- signed secretary, speeches were delivered by Messrs. Underhay, Sullivan, Kickham, Serimgeour and McLauchlin. After a lively discussion lasting over three hours, a resolution was submitted by Anthony McLauchlin, expressing confidence in the Government. To this the following amend- ment was proposed and declared carried by the chairman :-—
Resolved, That this meetiog disapproves of
the gerrymandering end disfranchisement meatures of the present Government. Also, of the ehameful mismanagement of the foancial business of the Province, and that che Peters’ Administration do not possess our
