We always feel it is diffi- cult to produce an interest- ing column any week when we write on Thursday and it is read on Tuesday (hopefully). It is, however, much harder this issue when the most important games of the sea- son are scheduled for the intervening Saturday and Sunday. In case you are not. posted with what is com- ing up next week-end we'll give you the remaining ga- mes on the schedule of the three teams now remaining in contention for a play- off spot in our section. We have two home games against UNB and Moncton has two games at home against STU & Mount A. Lacking the crystal ball, that has been borro- wed for use in the forth- coming: U.P. E.2.S.U.»elec- tions, we can make no fore- cast but will invite you to do your own conjecturing. Please God let us have the playoffs here!!!

Going back to happenings since our last issue we'd like to make a social com- ment about the lovely party accorded Claude Lambert & Mike Paiemont by the "Sat- urday" team during what was scheduled to be the fir- st period of a hockey game. scoring five goals in the second period and going on to a 7-4 win. We were glad to welcome Claude and Michel back to the campus and hope they enjoyed the first per- iod party!

On the road against St. Th- omas our Panthers conducted themselves much as expected, winniming two games in com- fortable fashion. The main

feature of this road trip was Billy Doherty's out- burst of five goals in the second game....

In basketball we were hop- eful of a real win against St. Thomas but the whole ga- me left us puzzled. We SEE- MED the better team but, qu- ite late in the second half we trailed by 19 points! A « real exciting rally left us only four short at the buz- zer,.-but the game did not seem to be between the two teams but a four way compet-— ition among the two coaches and the referees...we thoug- ht the most humorous spec- tacle of the whole athletic year was 5'5" Mike Connolly forcibly restraining 6'8" Dave Smith as he struggled to make a vigorous protest.. Both coaches seemed very unhappy over the refereeing and, as a consequence we have been told, STU did not choose to stay on and play lt the second game. For what it is worth in an exhibition game we believe we, therefo- re , won this one 2-0 by default. This score does won- ders at improving our defen- sive record but what a dis- aster to our already sad offensive statistics!!!!
