In the House of Commons yesterday, the debate on the redistribution bill was con- tinued. A number of Quebec members spoke for and against it.

Hon. Mr. Bowell and Hon. Mr. Foster have gone to Washington. It is under- stood that they go at the request of Mr. Blaine to discuss, personally, certain mat- ters which were left over at the February conference, chiefly in reference to the de- tails respecting the mutual right in Cana- dian and3l nited States internal navigation.

Hon. Mr. Tupper to Prepare the British Case.

Montreal, June 2. The Star’s cable from London says that Great Britain's acceptance of Sir John Thompson as one of the British Arbi- trators in connection with the Behring Sea arbitration gives satisfaction. An eminent jurist will be chosen as another British arbitrator, while an eminent advocate, probably a member of the British Gevern- ment, will be selected as the British advo- cate.

Hon. Mr. Tupper has been nominated by the Imperial authorities as their agent to prepare the British case before the Behring Sea arbicration. This will necessitate Tupper’s leaving for England before the end of the session.

Gaspereaux fair at Port Latour and Liverpool and a few at Port Medway. Also a few salmon at Port Med- way and Canso,C. B. Cod fair at Arichat, Ingonish, Cheticamp and Mabou; but light at St. Peters and Louisburg. Mackerel fair at Louisburg and a few at St. Peters and [ngonish, while at Peiit Degrat some netters had 200 per man. Lobsters fair at St. Peters, Arichat, Cheticamp acd Mabou, but poor at Louisburg and Ingonish. The catch of had- dock is light to-day at St Peters and Ingon- ish, as well as of gaspereax at Tngonish and Mabou. All kinds of fish are scarce at Port Hood.
