-EDITORIAL-

Well, here is our first issue. We had a lot of fun getting this one out. After getting in a couple of twenty hour days though, we made it.

There are a few things different about the pap- er this year. It is being printed in Halifax and on offset. Therefore, there are a few more prob- lems concerning preparation of the paper for the printer,

Firstly, the way we send the paper to the printer is the way it comes back — no last min— ute running down to the press room to make corrections.

Secondly, because we are printing in Halifax, we have to meet our deadlines. The paper must be in Dartmouth on a certain date — which will likely be on a Tuesday. This will allow us to come out every Wednesday.

Also new this year is a $5,500 IBM Composer which we rent for $175. per month. This makes it possible for us to run justified columns.

This year, with your help, we hope to con- centrate on local and campus news. We will pay you for features you write, if we can use them and we will be developing our own pictures, so we hope to see you IN the paper.

We know you have heard this before, but - the paper will be as successful ‘as you make it. So come on over to the Cadre office and give us a hand; there is lots of room for staff. It will be interesting to work this year with lots of new equipment and a very new process of preparat- ion. You can help develop pictures, lay out, work the IBM Composer, or do paste-upsajust to mention a few of the things you can do. Oh, yes, you can also have a lot of fun.
