The Annual Christmas Tree party of the Social Service Department of the Charlottetown Hospital was held Friday afternoon at the Nurses’ Home. The beautifully illuminated and decorated tree stood in the cen- tre of ‘the study hull surrounded by tables piled with gifts of usefu! clothing and Christmas stockings containing fruit, candy and nuts. Santa Claus with flowing beard and jlngling bclls happily greeted each child, presenting them with a well filled stocking. A pleasing feature of the entertainment was a Scottish dance by ‘Miss Georgina ‘Trainer, charming young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Trainer, West Roy- alty, accompanicci by Mrs. Anthony Haughey on the violin and Rev. Dr. Bernard Gillis at the piano. These musicians provided splendid music throughout the afternoon, adding much to the gulety of the occasion. Rt. Rev. Mgr. Maurice MacDonald was also present as were other well wishers and friends of the Social Service.

The Social Workers were assisted

in their pleasant task by Mrs. Luc- ius Kelly, nee Ethel Murphy, who was the first social worker in the Department. 'I'here were also 50 dinners‘ pro- vided, 3 of these being donated by st. Dunstan's Girls’ Choir and 5 by Mr. Frank Hennessey. The aum of $50.00 was received from Mrs. An- drew Murphy, being the result of the recent lottery held by her .

St. Peter's Cathedral At 11.45 on Christmas Eve the

The albar and choral were brightly lighted and the vestments of the Clergy and altar hangngs were in keeping with the great Plestival of the Nativity. There was a. large congregation present, nearly all of which made their Christmas Com- munion.
