"The standard and appearance of the steers shown at the annual Easter Beef Show is comparable to that of any shown anywhere in eastern Canada", remarked the judge Fred R. Major. manager Massey Harris Farms, Milllken. Ontario. He noted that there was a far higher average of to grade cattle than he had seen at he Am- herst Show.

The island steers are thicker, more depth of flesh and finish. he said. The close culling Job of the Island showmen had faced him with a very difficult task to place them in order of merit. Mr. Major told the exhibitors that they should have no qualms about the showing of their beef cattle against any of that shown at the Royal Winter

A resolution asking that daylight time for urban centres be allowed during the summer months was quashed in the Legislature yester- day afternoon after the House went into committee to consider the re- solution which was introduced by Hon B. Earle MacDonald. it was seconded by Mr. MacDonald's col- league, Mr. A. A. Maclsaac (Lib- erall, Fifth Queens.

Mr. MacDonald said he had spoken on the matter of daylight time in the first three sessions of the last Assembly. He said the Legislature had seen fit to allow urban centres to go on daylight time for the past three years but some person or some very few persons had seen fit "to start the pot boiling again".

The following is the text of the resolution:

Whereas there has been consid- erable agitation throughout the Province that the whole Province remain on the same time during the whole year.

And Whereas the people living in urban centres are desirous of having Daylight Saving Time in effect during the summer months that they may enjoy the extra hour of Daylight thereby provided.

Be It Therefore Resolved that this Legislative Assembly in Se!- sion assembl ” approve of Char lottetown and all incorporated towns and villages in the Province going on Daylight Saving Time if they so decide.

Be it Further Resolved that this Legislative Assembly recommend that The Time Uniformity Act be amended at the present Session to allow Urban Centres to have Day- light Saving Time during the sum- mer season.

He felt that everything had gone along fairly well during the past few summers and although the people asking for it were in the minority their rights should be given consideration. It was a case of the country compromising with the city, he said.

Mr. MacDonald said that if he was Mayor of the City and the Government came to him and said they would withdraw their provin- cial subaidy, "I would say you can keep it. We would rather do with- out the subsidy and be able to have our own wishes".
