The Elsie Cuthbertson Memorial Music Bursary shall be awarded each year to a full-time student enroled in the Music Program at the University of Prince Edward Island, and who has a demonstrated finan- cial need.

Preference will be given to: 1. Students of voice 2. Canadian Citizens. Application forms are available at the Registrar’s Office or at the Department of Music. The deadline for applications is Friday, 13 October 1995.

As a result of a generous bequest from the estate of the late Austen A. Scales, three scholarships are now available for second-year students at UPEI under the following terms: These scholarships are open to rural students from Prince Edward Island. One will be given each year to « student from each of the three counties of the Province.

Awards will be made on the basis of financial need and achievement in the first year of a University program. Application forms are available at the Registrar’s Office. The deadline for applications is October 31, 1995.

The Coles Associates Ltd. Scholar- ship, valued at $500, is to be awarded to a high school graduate from Prince or Kings County who is enroled in first year of Science or Engineering program at the University of Prince Edward Island.

It shall be awarded by application to the Scholarship and Awards Committee on the basis of financial need. Application forms are available at the Registrar’s Office. The deadline for application is Friday, 13 October 1995.

The annual $500 bursary entitled the ‘*Margaret (Mullen) Griffin Bursary’’ is to be awarded to any Island single parent (male or female) who is a full-time student taking at least three courses per semester in the School of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward island.

It shall be awarded by application to the Scholarship and Awards Committee on the basis of financial need after the first year of study. Applicants must have maintained an average of 65% in the nursing courses in the first year of study.

Note: For the purposes of this bursary, Island residency is defined as having spent a significant portion of one’s life in this province. Application forms are available at the Registrar’s Office or at the School of Nursing. Deadline for applications is mid-October.

North Nova Scotia Highlanders Memory Club Bursary

The North Nova Scotia Highlanders was formed in June, 1940, from the four units of 18 Highland Brigade N.P.A.M. These were the Pictou Highlanders, the North Scotia Highlanders (M.G.), the Cape Breton Highlanders and the Prince Edward Island Highlanders. The motto of the unit is “Cos cheum nach gabh tilleadh’’ -- “‘No retreating footsteps’’.

On July 31, 1941 the battalion arrived in Avonport, England. During the following three years the unit participated in exercises as part of the Allied effort in World War II. On June 6, 1944 the unit landed in Nor- mandy, carrying out an important role in the D-Day invasion and continued to serve until the war ended on May 8, 1945.

The veterans of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Memory Club support three bursaries in the Atlantic Region. One Bursary is available for students of the University of Prince Edward Island and is administered through the University.

This bursary will be awarded on the annual basis to a full-time student at the University of Prince Edward Island on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Applications are available at the Registrar’s Office. The application deadline is October 15.

PEI Advisory Council on the Sta Women Engineering Bursary for Womg

This bursary is for women studyj engineering at UPEI , in recognition an support of women pursuing non-traditic fields. It will be awarded to a women entering third year. The bursary will bé awarded to a student who maintains a passing average and demonstrated finan need.

This bursary was established in | by the government of PEI on the twenti anniversary of the PEI Advisory Counc work to encourage young women to chd careers in Math and Science fields. The bursary also pays tribute to the fourteen women engineering student who were murdered at L’Ecole Polytechnique in | Application forms are available at the Registrar’s Office. The application dea is Friday 13, October 1995.

The UPEI Alumni Association of the three scholarships (Donna and Peter Meincke Alumni Scholarship, Earl F. Nicholson Alumni Scholarship, Bill Led Alumni Scholarship) valued at $1,000 e for 1995-96. Following are the terms:
