F06 TRUMPETS 0N SAMBRD AND GRANBEBRY ISLANDS.

NFORMATION has been received at the Admiralty, that Fog trumpets have been placed on Sambro and Cranberry Islands, near the entrances to Halifax harbour and the Gut of Canso respectively. Each blast of these trumpets will be of five seconds duration, with intervals of twenty seconds, and in calm weather may be heard at a distance varying from 6 to 10 miles.

West Indies-Gulf of Mexico. Fixed Light at Entrance to Tamplco River.

Also, that a fixed white light has been established at the entrance to Tampico River, and in clear weather should be seen at a distance of about 15 miles. The tower stands on the north point of entrance to the river, and is said to be .in let. 22° 16’ 45” N., long. 97° 47 West of Greenwich.

BY virtue of a writ of Statute Execution to me directed, issued out of Her Majesty’s Supreme Court ofJudicature, at the suit of Thomas Essory, against the estate of Joseph Crabbe, deceased, I have taken and seized as the property of the said Joseph Crabbe, All the right,title and Freehold Interest of the said Joseph Crabb, in and to Town Lot No. 5, in the 4th hundred of Town Lots in Charlottetown; g of Town Lot No. 6, in the 4th hundred of Town Lots in Charlottetown; half of Town Lot No. 30, in the 4th hundred of Town Lots in Charlottetown, with all the buildings thereon erected;and Pasture Lot No. 249, in the Royalty of Charlottetown, in Queen’s County, and I do hereby give public notice, that I will on Friday, the 3d day of August, 1866, at 12 o’clock, noon, at the Court House in Charlottetown, in the said County, set up and sell at public auction the said property, or as much thereof as will satisfy the levy marked on the said writ, being £279 95 7d, with interest on £270, part thereof, from the 7th day of May,18ti3 until paid, besides Sheriff’s fees and incidental expenses. Sir,—As a misapprehension appears to exist in some Colonies respecting the mode of verifying legal and otherdocuments which are forwarded to this Department for use in Foreign Countries, I think it requisite to explain that whenever such documents are either forwarded to you at the request of Foreign Governments for execution in the Colony over which you preside, or are trans— mitted by you to this country at the request of foreigners or others for verification in England, the last signature attached by way of attestation to any such document, must invariably be one which is known, and can therefore be certified to in this depart- ment. If possible it should always be that of the Officer adminis~ tering the Government.

I have to requgst your particular ‘attention to this rule, as its non-observance has occasionally led to delay and inconvenience. I have the honor to be. Sir, Your most obedient humble servant,
