Post Orrice Bure tarizes.—The Post Office at Campbelton, N. B., was broken into on Thursday night last and six regis- tered letters stolen. The mail bags were found in the yard open. _It is understood that the letters taken did not contain much money.

Sav Drowntxe Accipent.—On Saturday jast Patrick Martin, a blacksmith’s appren- tice at Orwell, went to bathe in the river at that place. The tide being low he walked into the channel, and was drowned. His body was recovered the following evening. An in- quest was hold and a verdict of accidental death by drowning returned.
Bap Battastr.—A mau named Donald McLenaan, belonging to Spring Hill, was run over and killed by the C. P. R. train near Sherbrooke, Que., on Friday morning jast. A bottle of whiskey was found in his coat pocket and adother at his side. Just how much whiskey was inside tbe man does not appear. icles
Aw Iratian Mrrperep.—The naked body of an Italian navvy, with a knife in his throat, was found in the river at Baie Verte on Satur- day. It is supposed that he was murdered by five other Italians the previous night. There has been much quarreling among the Italians ou the ship railway, and many stab- hing affrays have been reported.

Kxorveer’s Inspection. —The two-gun bat- tery, with blindages and splinter-proof covers, was completed by the Engineers yesterday shortly before six o'clock, The work is full size, the parapet being 15 feet thick and 8 feet above the surface. At the finish the In- spector expressed himself as being much pleased with the work of the company. He gaid he considered the battery the best piece of work yet done by them.

BapLy Burnep.—At Cape Tormeutine on Thursday last a girl, Domitille Bourque, of Cape Bald, accidently upset a lamp which had been Jeft on the kitchen floor, setting fire toher clothes. She ran screaming out of doors, and a young man named Costin, of Baie Verte, succeeded, after considerable difti- culty, in throwing a quilt about the girl and patting out the fire.
