It has long been recogni— zed that the Barn is woeful— ly inadequate as a Student Union Building. The acoust- ics of the place have.long I been re nowned as the worst. on the Island, Souris Legion not excepted. Further the space available is inade— quate for a Pig - which is why most major events take place in the gym, costing the Student Union hundreds of dollars a shot. And if a’ Pig is held in the Barn all other activities must stop.

This‘ definitely would be a poor idea, mainly because there is too much estrangement at that inhibiting factor present between faculty and students. If they were for- ced to use the same facili- ties as students then it would facilitate much more contact between profs and students. At present, if a' student goes into the facul- ty lounge, or a prof into the Barn,s/he is immediately intimidated by a sense of being the only one of a kind in the room. This should not be con—» sidered unreasonable; it is standard practice at most,- ‘universities in Canada.
