MOSCOW (AP Premier Khrushchev led Fidel Castro Into Moscow Sunday for one of the most elaborate receptions ever given a foreign visitor. He assured the bearded Cuban leader that the Soviet Union stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Cuba against the United States.

Whisked to the top. of Lenin's tomb in Red Square soon after his arrival from ansk. Castro received the cheers of thousands and declared his con- viction his regime could not ex- lSl without Soviet support.

But despite the Zl-gun salutes and a Soviet space shot appar- ently timed for his Moscow ar- rival. Castro displayed little of the spirit that usually character- izes his pu» appearances. He smiled rarely and appeared in- attentive at times.

although he credited the Russian revolution with making possible his own rise to power. he added pointedly: “This does not mean that the Soviet Union made this (Cuban) revolution."
