The anoual sta ement of the Hazelbrook Dairying Association is now out, and ehovs arubstantial gain over iast year. The total quantity of miik received was 1,722,021 pounds, being eupplied by 154 patrons. 168,113 pounds of cheese were manufactured, which realized an aversge price of 1028 cents per pound. Average price tor butter fat in May was 20 cents, aed in September 28} cents. The company have acomplete butter plant io» cludiog a De Leval separator, which they procured from Mr. T. A. McLean, giviog entire satisfaction. Mr. Joseph Burgers is etill in charge, and by his careful mar- agement has secure’ the good will of all. The four largest patrons sendiog milk for the summer season were: A E Dewar, 1(8,782 lbs.; Geo Stewart, 39,804 Ibs.; Henry Jones, 32,184 lbe.; A M Stewart, 32,145 lbe., making a total «f 212,915 peunds. There were also twelve patrons supplying over 20,000 pounds each. The company are doing a rushing butter busi. ness now, and intend to have this year a large increase over the season of 1899.

Loxpoy, Jan. 29.—A letter from Pre- toria gives the text"of a complaiot which Presidens Kruger made to President Steya regarding the wantef co-operation on the part of the Free Statere «t Modder River, and also President Steyu’s address to the Free Staters. A Bap Aoolpant.—A very ead st ooting accident oocurred at Gunning Cove, N S.,ome evening lasi week. Accordirg to the Shelburne Budge: a litle son of Samurl Goulden, aged about six years, was playing with a loaded revelver, and poiating it at bis sister, about five years, pulled the trigger, but the revelver failed to go off. His twin brother theu took the weapoo, and pointing it at the eister, fired iv, with the result that the bullet entered tue little girl’s bead just above the iefieve and pesetrated the skull.
