Sap Sutctpr.—A man named Duncan Me- Eachern, residing south of the Hillsborough, hanged himself yesterday. It appears that the poor man recently lost a favorite child through diphtheria— which, with other afflic- tions, proved too much for his sanity. Coro- ner Beer held an inquest. The verdict was, ** Suicide—hbeing of unsound mind at the time.”

She strack the bank in goin out and stuck for 24 hours, when the deckload was discharged and she came off with the as- sistance of the tug ‘‘Henry G. Aitken,” which towed her into the loading berth where a survey wil! probably be held before replac- ing the deckload and proceeding to sea. Mackerel fishing good.—Business quiet. —- Times.

A TERRIBLE thunder and rain storm visited Brockville, Ont., on July 27, about 4 o’clock, p.m. The rain poured down for an hour, ac- companied by large hailstones. Lightning was very vivid, and thunder deafening. Up to the time of writing (10 o'clock) only two cases of being struck by lightning—a child killed instantly, and fearfully wounding a woman named Hutton, who lies in a critical e»ndition. Several houses were struck, but
