Tur Presbytery met in St. James’ Hall, this city, on Tuesday, 3lst March. There was 8 good attendance.

After receiving the reports of several visiting coramittes, the reports of the stand- ing committees were taken up. The report of the committee on statistics showed that the increags in congregational aflairs was most encouraging ; that there are at pre- sent thirty-three congregations, an increase in the past ten years of six, 3,634 families, 6,019 communicants, and 4,131 scholars in the Sabbath Schools.

The ‘report. of the financial committee also showed a gratifying increase, the amount paid by congregations alone being $21,951, an increase over last year of

schemes aad benevolent objects was $9, 103, an increase over last year of over $500, and of $4,572 as compared with 1880, thus showing’ that the liberality of our. people was doubled during the past ten years. The total contributions was given as $44,434.

Such men as ‘‘Disinterested ” and ‘‘ Fair Play ” advertise these chumps of stallions as being chock full ot the blood of Import- ed Messenger, Hambletonion or Mambrino Chief as the case may be. If such persons would had taken the pains to in- vestigate their horses’ pedigree, they would have discovered degeneration, that nothing

paper and ink used in writing the pedigree being worth more than the animal itself. We trust that intelligent breeders will in- vestigate fully the pedigrees of the several stallions before breeding, as a great many imported stallions, when compared in looks, general make-up or symmetry of build compared with horses of the Island’s
