Wit the cleats! of schools yous-lg people all over Prince Dd- ward Island are making plans for the summer's activities. Outstand- ing among these will be the swim- ming and water safety programme conducted by the Prince Edward Island Division of the Canadian Red Gross Society. fn preparation for the opening of theae swimming classes Red Cross instructors will be trained or take a refresher course at the Leadership Training Camp which is being held on the YMCA. site at Holland Cove from June 30th. to July iiiih~lt is expected that prospective swim- ming instructors from the following centres will be in attendance at this can-W Georgetown. Montague, 8t, Peter's. Cardigan, Souris, Mor- ell Mount Stewart, Keppoch. West Point. siiminerstse and Charlotte- town. Ilhese instructors will then he ready to organize swimming classes In their own communities on July 7th, which will be the official opening date all over the province.

Over 600 children took advantage of these classes last summer when 19s received the Junior, intermedi- ate or senior awards for which they were tested at the conclusion of the course. Tanton Landry, a brother of Hank. has been playing a smart game in short field for the Kins- men. He‘s had seven assists in two games, some them very smooth performance. Like Hank. Tanton does his chores with a certain flourish that looks mighty smart from the sidelines.

Carson. big Airforce backstop. who leads the league in batting. seems to be a spot hitter like Ted ‘Nilliams. Almost every hit we've seen him poll out has gone through the same hole in the in- ﬁeld, and it. shouldn't take a "Boudreau shift" to plug the gap either. He invariably drives the pellet between third and short. The bail is moving as if it were jet-propelled. however. and an in- fielder doesn't get much chance to shift his position after the pistol cracks.
