Dear Sir:

The last two issues of t the Cadre carried issues relating to-the removal of pews from the university chapel° Perhaps it is'tfine to offer a comment through the Cadre on the case of the missing pews.

During the past three years, the University of Prince Edward Island Chap- laincy has made proposals regarding changes in pre— sent worship facilities. These suggestions were ma- de with a view to provid- ing more suitable facili- ties of a multi-purpose nature so as better to se-~ rve the total University community.

The removal of the pews & their replacement by a go- od grade of stacking chair was one of the proposals. The present space is grea- tly limited by fixed pew type seats while flexible space is more desireable°

With the opportunity to sell the pews to a local church arriving with plans to relocate music people on this campus, prelimina- ry steps to renovations of Chapel facilities were un- dertaken by removing the, pewso ‘

It is important, perhaps, to state clearly that the Chapel is not being taken away. Chapel space and ~ facilities are being re— considered with a view to better allottment and app- ointment of space.

Trusting the mystery has been somewhat unclouded into greater "knowing".
