John Neville, the man with all the figures in his head, has supplied us with a lot of statise tics & we think such a study must drive Jack Kane crazy. Poor Jack, he can't score goals, he can only tell people how. WE are struck by the fact that, although we won but 7 & lost 9 and scored but 80 goals against 86, we outshot our opponents on an average of 38.1 ag— ainst 35.2 for our opponents. Throw Out the 60—30 margin by which Moncton outshot us in one' game & the figures become even more amazing. We'll repeat that our adversa- ries' goalkeepers al— ways seem to think that they're Tretiak.

The Panther Basket— ball team played a su— perlative game in out— scoring St. F.X. in a match,which decided the final playoff spot. It .was the kind of game we ‘really enjoy. As the Pan— thers enjoyed a 53—28

Laffin again led the team with 29 points & gradua— ting Jamie Ballem again played an outstanding game. We hate to see them go. By this win we'll go into the playoffs & will open against St. Mary's in the Halifax Forum next Friday night at 7:00. We were asked if the Student union will be willing

to sponsor a bus. Wri— ting this on Sunday night, we'll have to

advise that we'll look into the possibility & we'll find out the cost and have it on CIMN, we feel that great congratulations must go to Gary Heald & his players for their steady improvement over the sea— son...we believe that to— day's game was the best exhibition of basketball that we have seen a UPEI team perform. As they are now reaching their peak, we think that neither the Panthers nor their sup: porters expect that, as high as they are rated nationally, the St. Ma- ry's team is a Shoo—in next Friday night. Cer— tainly a trip to Hali— fax appears attractive for next weekend. Thére will be two basketball ‘games on Friday night and two Saturday after“ noon. Two hockey games on Saturday night & the final on Sunday after— noon. That is a lot of action. See you in Hali— fax on Friday night????
