They skated like fiends all night, took their bumps in amazing fashion and were going strong at the finish. in the second session they were held off the scoreSheet but it was only great work by ‘Butch’ Ward that had the score 2-0 for the Birds entering the third.

Frizzell Was Tops

IN the third. a former member of the Frizzellmen. Donnie F‘rizzell. robbed the Parkdalers blind. He was tremendous in that Penguin net and he richly deserved to get a shutout. How- ever. it wasn‘t in the books and the Royals got on the scoresheet with only thirty seconds of play remaining.

It wouldn't be fair to start picking stars on the Penguins' . ‘Bucko' Trainor’s boys were all great in this upset tri- umph. They were showing the ei'fects of expert coaching and their play gave the men of Sandy little chance to get gomg.

Royals SliII Favorites

0? course. this decision doesn't make the Baby Birds fav- orites to take the series. We still think there's too much hockey know-how on that Royals‘ outfit to upset four times in seven games. However. it has made the series something really worth- while and The Sports Arena should be packed Tuesday night for the second meeting. . .

It's a long. long time since the Royals were in check like the Penguins held them Thursday night. They have tremend- ous scoring power and that power usually asserts itself

But Thursday wasn't one of these nights. The Qld Spain- ers were checking like mad and the Royals’ excursrons were getting broken up with almost monotonous regularity. When Parkdale attackers did manage to get in close. Donme Frizzeil was there between the pipes to break their hearts.

A Rugged Contest

IT was a rugged game but the Birds seemed none the worse of the bumping. They kept coming back for more and threw a few mighty hefty ones themselves.

e would dearly have loved to see them playing for the Maritime Junior crown Thursday night. If they came through with a performance like that. then there is no junior team in the Maritimes could touch them.

This afternoon these same Juniors entertain Halifax Junior All-Stars and we predict a decisive triumph or the Trainor- coached gang. They seem to be hitting on all cylinders now and those in their path had better watch out. Halifax lads should meet a determined crew this afternoon. one th t is keyed up to really atone for that 8-3 loss last Saturday night in Halifax.

WE wonder if Toe Blake will blame Art Skov for that loss to Boston Bruins Thursday night. Now that the ‘villain‘ Eddie Powers has resigned. Toe shouldn‘t have as much to say about referees. That $200 fine levied upon him was nothing only ‘pea- nuts . No wonder. Powers decided to call the whole thing quits.
