And Whereas, The Government for the lsat five years have not made any effort to place the finances of this Province in 4 proper condition, but have extravagantly spent our revenues on our ferry sy-lem aud upon all the various branches of ihe pub lic service thereby creating large deficits every year thus rolling up a very large and burdeasome debt, which bas been largely inereaced this present session by the legis- lation already passed raising the debt to nearly $1,000,000, which wil] require nearly all the taxes as present collected to. meet the annual accruing interest.

Resolved, That in the opinion of this House a cominittee of seven members of this House shou'd be appointed to examine into the financial standing of this Province with a view to ascertain wha* reductious can be made in the expenditures in the various branches of the public service, said committee to have power tosend for persous, papers and records ofall tbe several depariments.
