in New Hampshire. the Tho- mas Bailey Aldrich house. also the Pepperill mansion. both Portsmouth, as l as Ten Commandments house Salmon Falls (now dismantled and sold) had “turkey” car- pe s orie n t a l carpets brought b ac k by ship from China. Of these places only the Aldrich house is open to the public.

All were furnished with "is- mily" pieces and not by decor- ators or as stage sets. Chinese. coroman d e1 lacq u e r. etc. were part of the furnishings of representative Colonial inter- iors. This is Early Americans in its original character.
