Jupement Givex.—John T. Mellish, Esq., gve judgment on Tuesday last in the case of Stumbles vs, Paton, in favor of the plaintiff for 380 and costs. This case, with several others, had been referred to Mr. Mellish for hearing by Judge Alley atthe last session of the County Court in Cnarlottetown.

Ix a Foo.—A Halifax despatch says that the steamer Ulunda, on her last trip from Halifax for London, nearly ran on the coast of Newfoundland. For two days she was in a dense fog. The passengers were about re- tiring at night when a hand ran below and told them to prepare to leave the ship as she would ground in a few minutes. Happily she was backed off, but not until the shore was plainly visible through the fog.

Weppine Betts.—The nuptials of Dr. Bearisto and Miss Maggie Pope were cele- brated at Summerside this morning. Rev. ©. F. Howe performed tie ceremony at St: Mary's Church. The church was prettily de oorated, and there was a large congregation. Miss Dollie Pope attended the bride, and Mr. W. 8S. Stewart, of Charlottetown, supported the groom. The bride was given away b her grandfather, the Hon. Joseph Pope. We extend to Dr. and Mrs. Bearisto our heartiest congratulation.

To pe Destrorep.—The liquor seized from Felix Martin recently will be publicly destroy- ed by the policemen on Market Square, to- morrow, at. twelve o'clock, ‘The lot consists of one jar containing two gallons of brandy; one jar containing two quarts of rum; one jar containing three quarts rum; one demijohn containing two gallons brandy; one pint of whiskey; half-pint gin; one gill brandy; half- pint brandy; two bottles gin; one quart rum; half pint brandy; one pint rum—the last mentioned lot beingymostly in bottles.

Lacscugep.—From the shipyard of Mr. John Ellis, Grand River, Lot 14, on Wednes- day the 17th inst., for the Hon. John Yeo, Port Hill, a fine barkentine, 3 3 tons regis- ter, to class Al ten years at English L'oyds, named the Thetis. This splendid vessel for beauty of model, excellence of materials, good workmanship and finish, excels any vessel yet built this side of Chralott-town, and ‘we would be safe in adding, on the Islend. Well may Mr. John Ellis, the master builder of this gooily ship, feel proud of this ‘ gem of the sea.” We wish every voyage of the Thetis & profitable one for her enterprising owner. — Sside Journal.

A, A, Stockton and at- torney general show cause agsinst an order nisi for certiorari granted by Palmer, Fe. Oct., 1887, to bi ing up the proceedings of the Methodist conference; A. L. Currie, counsel for D. D. Currie, contends that the conference
