Opera House last evening. The opening bill was the popular comedy-drama “Queena” with Miss Tucker in the title role, and it was presented in a manner which left nothing to be desired. Miss Tucker's rendering of the character of “Queena” was most effective, and the *““mad scene” in the third act was especial- ly good. Mr. Meldon was natural and manly as Lord Walter Huntington, and Mr. Richards gave a clever impersonation of John Henry Wilkins. Miss Belle Vivianas Florence Nightingale Fletcher was most pleasing, and her splendid comedy work was roundly applauded. The stage settings were in keeping with the performance, that showing the American Legation at Paris being es- pecially striking. The costumes worn by Miss Tucker and the other ladies in the cast were exceedingly handsome. Between the acts songs and dances were given by Baby Vavene, aclever child actress who also had an interesting part in the play, and Miss Vivian sang seyeral “coon” songs

A Sap Case.—Fifteen years ago Sarah Bass, wife of a prosperous farmer near Shelbyville, Ind., was taken suddenly and violently insave. Her relatives had her tak- entoan asylum with the hopes than she would soon be restored, but her case scemed hopeless. A few days ago, says a local exchange, her husband was takex suddenly ill and died. The same day letter was received from Mrs. Bass who wrote to her husband and children, Paying that she had been pronounced cured and would return home immediately. Not until she arrived nome and was surrounded by her three children, a son and two daughters, was the news of her husband’s death imparted. The blow was more than the unfortunate women could endure, and she again became unmanageable, and will have to be returned to the asylum.
