At a meeting of the Maritime Breeders’ Association held at Halifax on Friday a committee was appointed to sce what can be done towards securiag a more equ'table rate for cattle oa the I. C, R. and otner railways.

Mr. F. G. Bovyer, Georgetown, said that as an exhibitor from P. E. Island he felt ihat Nova Scotia deserved great credit for the exhibition she bad put on and forthe generous in for which it was opened to the exhibitors from other pro- vincee,

He for one had lost an animal he valued at $125 through the rough way he had been hand- led by the Intercolonial railway in coming fiom St. John to Halifax,acd he would be corroborated by many other stockmen when he said the treatment given the second trainload of live stock shipped from St. Johnon the 20th inst. was simply outrageous,

Mr. Bovyer, then announced that he had just heard from the P. E. Island govern- ment that it was propozed to hold an ex- bibition at Charlottetown next autumn open to the three maritime p'ovinces,

On the afiernoon of Friday Sept. 29:h, the good folks of West River met at Meadow Bank scheol, to bid good bye to their teacher, Miss Eisie McNeill, who after three anda quarter years in their midst was Jeaving to take the Arts course at Acadia University. They found Mr. Campbell, Inspector for Queen’s, busy examining the school. The scholars answered well, showing how thoroughly they had been taught. Mr. Campbell declared that the progress since last visit was “very satisfactory.” At the close of the inspection Katie F. Hyde, on behalf {of the school, read the following address, ‘and little Helen McMillan presented the ! gift, 8 beautifal gold chain:
