BUSINESSMAN’S

As you may have noticed. we were conspicuously absent from last week's paper. 'lhis was not solely due to laziness on my part, but because I have reached a decision which I'm sure will delight many of you. I have decided that, for the rest of the year, this colurm will be written and published only when I have something specific to say. Even my unbelievably witty humour has a tendency to become slightly monotonous when it serves no purpose.

Nevertheless, we are here

today, so on with the show. .

Speaking of show, we were quite pleased with the ' number of Business students who participated in intra— murals during Winter Carnival. We managed to walk away with the honours in regular hockey (no surprise) as well as Co—Ed volleyball. We were also represented unofficially by several teams in the chugging contest and by one lovely lady, Richard Brown, in the Fashion Show. All in all, more than enough proof to other societies on campus that we're still in there fighting.

Plans have been completed for this year's Businessman's Dinner. This year the dinner will feature an extremely accomplished speaker, Dr. H. Ian Macdonald, ‘ president of York University (Dr. Maodonald is currently making a national speaking tour, under the sponsorship of the

Canadian Association of Registered Industrial Accountants.)

The evening, on Wednesday, Feb. 16th, will feature a reception with cash bar at 6:30 p.m., and a dinner at 7:30, all taking place at the Charlottetom ‘ Hotel.

Admission to time dinner is open to all students, as well as interested business people from the area. The cost to students is $5.00. (By the way, the actual cost of the dinner will be considerably higher, but we're willing to subsidize each student as proves necessary.) Last year we had a total attendance of about 250 and we're trying to better that this year. Make plans to go -— any- one who attended last year will assure you of what a great time it will be. Tickets will be on sale next week in the lobby of Kelley, both for yourselves, and for any interested business

people you might happen

As you've .probably noticed, our jad<ets finally arrived this week and by the time you read this most of you will have picked them up. If not, there will be a table set up in the lobby of Kelley until Friday and after, check with Freda Cox.

It's election time again, both for the Student Union and the Business Society. The election of next year's slate of

officers will be held the week of Feb. 20th, just before the Spring break.

Positions open will be those of president, vice— president, treasurer, secretary and represent- atives from each of the four classes. The newly- elected executive will thus have the rest of this tem and the summer ‘ months to get acquainted and prepare for next year's important task of organizing the Atlantic Conference of Business Students, to be held here next fall. ’

All of you should seriously consider running for office next year -- it's a great way to get acquainted with other business students, get to know the faculty and practice sate of those skills you keep hearing about in Human Relations and Personnel. Nominations will be accepted, beginning on Feb. 13th, (You can pid< up a nomination sheet from Freda Cox.) and will close

16th. Candidates will then have until Tuesday of the following week (the let) to campaign. the electim will take place during the following day, with the results to be announced that evening at ’ a HUGE PARI'Y.

I hope you can follow all that; as I read it over, _I_ have trouble understanding it - but that's a common problem for me. If I've managed to totally confuse you, posters plastered around Kelley should help to straighten you out some- what.

We haVe reached the moment you all long for - the end of this column. Since we have so many events "on the go" at the mnrent, you'll undoubtedly hear from me next week, so until then, have a happy seven days.
