An Islander Victimized,

Among the passengers who arrived by the western train yesterday afternoon was Robert M. Young of Gallow’s Point, P. EB. I. Young has been away from his home for several years and came here from Washing- ton territory. Some time after he left Bos- tona well dressed young man took near him and in the course of a few minutes the two were conversing about various places they had visited. The man told Young that he had made a tour of the tight little island, and the result was that they became very confidential. As the train was hearing Bangor yesterday morning 4 man approached the individual who had im- presse od Yi oung so favor ibly and after shak- ing hands with him asked if he could pay him the $80 that he owed him. Young's friend said he had only a few dollars about him but produced a check for $1,000, which he handed to the newcomer. The man looked at the check and with a look of astonishment remarked that he could not give Young’s friend the value of the same.
