Applicalions For l.0.D.E. Bursary Being Accepted

Mrs. Thane A. Campbell. execu- tive secretary of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Em- pire has announced that applica- :ions are now being accepted for an I.O.D.E. bursary available to the son or daughter of a Prince Edward Island veteran of the Sec- ond World War. This bursary was created by the I.0.D.E. as a mem- orial to the Second World War.

Similar bursaries are available in each of the other Canadian Pro- iinces and the Yukon.

A Prince Edward Island student applying for this bursary will be required to have passed Atlantic Board examinations or to have a second year Prince of Wales Col- lege certificate.

A rummage sale will be held on January 24th with Mrs. Mark Delaney, Mrs. D. F. MacNeill, and Mrs. R. E. Ellis as conveners.

It was moved that the West End pantry sale will be held on Janu- ary alst. with Mrs. W. F. Strong as convener.

Mrs. .W. P. Callaghan gave is gratifying report on the number of coat hangers turned in by the members. It was decided to hold a white elephant sale in February and Mrs. J. K. Beer and Mrs. Hill. Mrs. Eric Maeilay, and Mrs. A. S. Hopkins will be in charge.

NEW YORK. Jan. 7 - (AP! Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt. for years the acknowledged leader of New York society's most exclusive circle, died tonight at her Fifth Avenue I-Ionic.

She was the widow of Brig.-Gen. Cornelius Vanderbilt III.

She was born Grace Graham Wilson. a southern society girl. She married Vanderbilt, who was eight years her junior. in 1896.
