From Lorp Movnt Sternen—Mr Rich ard Johnson, Chief Ranger of Court Mount Stephep, 1 O F, yesterday received a check for a handsome sum from Lord Mount Stephen as a token of his appreciu~ tion in having the court named after him. The gift was unexpected, and came asa pleasant surprise to the members of Court Mount Stephen. The formal presentation of the check will be made to the court at tne meeting on Tuesday evening next, when the lettes accompanying the gift will be read. Court Mount Stephen was organiz ed on the 21st December, 1897, and on it membership role may be found the names of many of our leading citizens.

The mile race between Art Gaudet, of Charlot crown, and Fred Scot, of Moncton, was won by Gaudet in 3. 28}. It wes wekated between the halves of tue hockey match. They started from oppo- site sides of the ring. There was no material difference in the relative

The two mile bandicap was called after the close of the hockey match. Scott and Gaudet started from scratch, and Maicolm Stewart, J. McLean and Louis Large had a handicap of two laps each, Scott aad Gaudet skated well together until near the

end of the race, when Scott shot ahead and |

finished several vards in advance of the Island champion. The race was won by Stewar!, with McLean second, ‘Scott third, Gaudet fourth and Large fifth. The time was 7.59.

The judges in the racing events were Dr. H. D. Johnson and Mr. J. M. Campbell.

The next hockey match for the inter- mediate trophy will be played between the 2ad Victorias and the St. Dunstan’s.

Concert at Harrixetron.—The concert in Barrington Hall laet night was largely attended and proved most successful from every point of view. The programme rendered on the occasion included vocal solos by Mra. H. 2X. Large, Miss Collings and Miss Winnie Collings, Mr. Crowe, and Mr. Leslie Cook, readings by Mias Rattray and Mr. Hatfield, violin and trombone solos by Messrs Hill and Dawson, instrumental duet by the Messrs Payne avd Welsh, and a quartette by the Misses Webster and Collings and Mesere Maloney avd Crowe. Miss Daisy McPherson was the accompaniest. The amount realized was $21 31, which is for the benefit of the Prince Edward Island Hospital.
